Reddit

Reddit:

I have never really used Reddit or engaged with outside from this blog post, but from what I have learned it seems critical for change to come to the site as soon as possible. Even though I'm not on Reddit, I have seen on other social media sites the kind of exchanges that can occur on the platform and they can be incredibly hateful and disheartening. Although a lot of social media is public, there is an aspect of anonymity that comes with being behind a screen, and I believe this has led to the kind of hatefulness that can exist on the internet. Society is very quick to judge, harass, or "cancel" someone because of their actions, and social media sites like Reddit make it very easy to do this. It is also easy for this kind of behavior to spin out of control, which is why things must be implemented to prevent this. There should be no wiggle room or ability for members of social media sites to post hateful opinions or comments, because they are simply dangerous. The sooner we can resolve this issue and prevent these kinds of things from spreading, the better and safer these platforms will be.
